After our first shipment from Rion of 2009 proved so popular it was great to see the wines of 2010 live up to the hype of the vintage! The Bourgogne rouge is a new addition and it looks fabulous with lovely fresh berries on the palate and plenty of the Burgundian structure to back it up. The Premier crus are delicious with the Beaux-Monts  a favourite of mine again this vintage. Both Grand crus are brooding wines that will excel with time in the bottle, great pricing for wines of this calibre. There is something in the range for everyone here!!

This small Domaine, run by the man himself, prides itself in the minimalist approach that it takes. Natural yeasts, no enzymes, no settling and minimal racking are the go here with judicious handling of oak. The 2009 Pinot I brought in last year and it disappeared in a trice, luckily Dussort had some more!! The whites burst with flavour and the lovely minerality of great Meursault showing a savoury edge to the finish.

Clive Coates rates this domaine as one of the best values in Burgundy. I was impressed by the depth and charisma of these wines particularly at the price. Denis Carré is Burgundy born and bred and the domaine is a family concern with both son and daughter involved in the viticulture and winemaking. Stocks of the Pommard are quite low.

These stupendous wines are made by the daughter of Vincent Geantet, head of Pansiot-Geantet. The domaine was started in 2005 after Emilie had spent some years working along side here father at Pansiot-Geantet. While the wines are made in her own style they certainly show many characteristics similar to the great wines made by Vincent. These are supremely silky Burgundy with great balance and super length with each wine a tour de force within it’s category. From the stellar years of 2009 and 2010 these are not to missed. Quantities available are quite small like many small sproduction Burgundy Domaines.
